Becky is the Director of Education at Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center. As a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator for over 10 years, she works closely with physicians and patients to facilitate diabetes self-management education. She also serves as a study coordinator in our Clinical Research department, giving her the opportunity to work with many new diabetes medications and devices in the research setting. Becky is uniquely qualified as she has had Type 1 diabetes for 33 years and has worn an insulin pump for 27 years. She especially loves working with children and teens with type 1 diabetes as well as patients of all ages with insulin pumps. She is a certified pump trainer for all of the insulin pump companies currently on the market. Becky has also received additional training in providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients with eating disorders. She is an avid proponent of intuitive or mindful eating which significantly influences her preferred approach to nutrition counseling and education. Becky Sulik obtained a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Idaho State University and has been an active advocate of nutrition as it relates to health, particularly diabetes and eating disorders. She is active in several professional organization, including the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Diabetes Association, and the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. She served as the President of the Idaho Dietetics Association 2003-2004. Throughout her career, Becky has actively pursued additional education and training in diabetes care earning multiple certifications. Becky also serves on several advisory boards and committees relating to diabetes, health promotion, nutrition education and clinical pharmaceutical trials. She is currently a faculty member for the JDRF’s new PEAK program which focuses on providing training and recommendations to health care providers and patients with type 1 diabetes on achieving success in physical activity and sports at all levels.
