Sheryl Traficano, MBA, CAE, is Chief Executive Officer at the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), Schaumburg, Illinois. She received her B.A. degree in Chemistry/Biology from Ripon College and her M.B.A. from Keller Graduate School of Management, Devry University. Sheryl obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential in 2016. For the last 23 years, she has been working for CBDCE – first as Director of Operations and, since mid-2013, as CEO. Her roles with CBDCE have brought her into contact with the dedicated and passionate health professionals pursuing and obtaining certification as Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCESs), formerly known as Certified Diabetes Educators or CDEs, and the other valued members of the diabetes care team. Other organizations she has worked for in the past include the Board of Certified Emergency Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, and several dermatology associations. Her current volunteer activities include serving as a Board member of the American Board of Nursing Specialties, as a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence’s Public Member Committee and holding the position of public member of the Elgin Community College’s Physical Therapy Assistant Advisory Board, Elgin, IL.
