Dr. Samar Hafida, an Endocrinologist and Weight Management specialist with over a decade of experience. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Obesity Association, a subdivision of the American Diabetes Association, where she is leading the mission and strategy to improve the lives of all people living with diabetes and obesity. Dr. Hafida obtained her medical degree from Tripoli University in Libya and received her specialty training at Wayne State University in Detroit and Boston. She then established a metabolic/bariatric clinical service at the Joslin Diabetes Center and co-led the global education program before transitioning to her current role as an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedesian School of Medicine. Here, she continues her clinical practice with the section of Endocrinology at Boston Medical Center, leading the transitions of care service for teens and young adults living with obesity, diabetes, and complex metabolic disorders.Her passion for medical education is evident through the design and delivery of various educational activities, both locally and internationally. She has also served in the role of healthcare consultant by multiple healthcare systems to develop diabetes and obesity care pathways, highlighting her international experience. Dr. Hafida is deeply committed to advocating for individuals living with diabetes and obesity and strives to eliminate weight-related stigma and biases while promoting equitable care for all.
