Rebecca Schneider Aguirre, MD/PhD is a board-certified Med/Peds endocrinologist specializing in the care of youth and adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and/or endocrinological conditions. As both a physician and researcher, Dr. Aguirre is dedicated to advancing clinical care and understanding of T1D across the lifespan. At Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Aguirre is one of the founders of a pioneering T1D screening program, “SIT Down T1D” (Screening and Intervention To Delay T1D), a clinical program for T1D screening, staging, monitoring and prevention at Texas Children’s Hospital. Her research focuses on improving outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with T1D through innovation in screening, diagnosis, management, and clinical trials. She practices at both Texas Children's Hospital and the Harris Health System, both in Houston, TX.
