Mansur Shomali, MD

Dr. Shomali was a founding physician of the Diabetes & Endocrine Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also established a Fellowship Training Program in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also serves as Chief Medical Officer at WellDoc, Inc., where he helps develop mobile health technologies for individuals with diabetes and other chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Shomali has a research interest in novel ways to treat patients with type 2 diabetes. He has served as principal investigator on numerous clinical studies of novel diabetes therapeutic agents. He enjoys taking care of patients, teaching students, residents, and fellows, and working to translate science and technology for the betterment of diabetes care. Currently Dr. Shomali is an active member of the American Diabetes Association and serves as an associate editor for the journal Clinical Diabetes, which strives to translate advances in diabetes for primary care providers.
