Cindy Cai MD

Dr. Cindy X. Cai is the Jonathan and Marcia Javitt Rising Professor, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. She graduated summa cum laude with a major in biology and minor in music from Columbia University and received her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute, and her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Duke Eye Center. Dr. Cai currently holds grant funding from the National Institute of Health and the Research to Prevent Blindness foundation. Her research focuses on the social determinants of health that impact diabetic retinopathy care and utilizing informatics approaches to provide personalized medicine that combine both the medical and social aspects of disease.
