Amy Hess-Fischl is an advanced prac4ce die44an, diabetes care and educa4on specialist, and certified pump trainer for over 25 years. Her work at the University of Chicago is within the departments of pediatric and adult endocrinology working directly with people with diabetes of all ages who use insulin pumps and CGMs . For the past 19 years, she has been the Quality Coordinator for their ADA recognized program. Amy served as co-chair of 2022 Na4onal Standards revision, published in February 2022. She was chair of the Natonal ADA Educaton Recogniton Program commiQee from 2019-2023. She also received the 2022 American Diabetes Associa4on Outstanding Educator in Diabetes Award. She was also just named as Editor of the ADCES in Practice journal and is the current President-elect of Healthcare and Educa4on for the American Diabetes Associa4on. She is an interna4onal speaker in the areas of diabetes-related nutri4on, education program recognition, technology, diabetes prevention, and more. She has authored numerous publications in the area of diabetes care and education. Her professional activities also include writing continuing education test items for the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and various practice groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving with sharks.
